About OELP

The Outdoor Environmental Leadership Program (OELP) is an integrated program at Penetanguishene Secondary School which offers students the opportunity to earn three credits at the Grade 11 and 12 levels while exploring an environmental theme.

Integrated programs present students with a combination of traditional academic studies and practical outdoor skills, promoting community-building in the classroom and offering students an alternative perspective and format of learning.

Credits included:

  • CGR4M - Grade 12 Geography
    "The Environment and Resource Management"
  • ENG3U / ENG3C - Grade 11 English
           - OR -
    NBE3U / NBE3C - Grade 11 English
    "Contemporary Aboriginal Voices"
  • Cooperative Education (1-2 credits)

About SHSM

Penetanguishene Secondary School is the place to be if you love the outdoors!  With a focus on environmental issues, wilderness experience and hands-on-learning, our Specialist High Skills Major in the Environment promises to be a great adventure.  Not in OELP?  That's OK!  This SHSM is available to both students who are in OELP, and students who want to "specialize" their learning, but are not interested in the OELP course "package".
